Save Space and Effort in Your Bathrooms with Walk In Tubs

Walk in tubs are convenient and easy to use

Once upon a time, cellphones were gigantic objects as huge as bricks that only important people carry around in order to coordinate with their corporations or other executives. If you wanted to take a picture of something or listen to music, you had to bring a separate camera or a tape player with the tape of the artist you wanted to listen to. Hard to imagine that such type of life was possible, but there you have it. Today, you’d hardly see a phone without a colored display and at least a 2 mega-pixel camera with a built in mp3 player.

This has become the standard for today because cellphone manufacturers have found it a waste of computing space to just have a gadget that would call or just text.  Similarly, bathroom component manufacturers also feel that having a single bathing system is a waste of good bathroom space. As such, we have walk in tubs that are essentially bath tubs but can moonlight as shower areas.  As an interior designer, I recommend this bathroom component all the time to my clients and friends.

The Beauty of Walk in Bath Tubs

We all know what walk in showers are, right? As its namesake suggests, a person who wishes to use a walk in shower merely has to walk in through its barrier and take the bath. It is a good shower set up because it uses that best aspects of popular shower types which provides privacy and protects the rest of the bathroom by keeping the water in the shower space. People also like walk in showers because they look nice in almost any bathroom setting or theme.

If you have that image in mind, then you probably have an idea of what walk in bath tubs would look like, or do you? Unlike walk in showers that leave a space at the side that you can merely walk through, walk in bath tubs have a closable partition because you can’t obviously take a bath in a bath tub with a gaping hole in your tub’s side. Still, the ‘walk in’ concept is preserved and a bather merely has to walk through the bath area to use the bathtub.

People Who Would Benefit from Walk In Tubs with Shower

A walk in tub is very beneficial for the elderly and the disabled

While walk in tubs would benefit people in general, there are a certain classes of people whose life would drastically change because of this modern day bathroom innovation. Old people, for one, would have an easier time in the bathroom with walk in bath tubs because they won’t have to exert effort just to get in their bathtubs. It also helps that the risk of slipping up or getting into other bathroom related accidents are lessened. As such, the old timers and the people taking care of them would rest easy every bath time because of the walk in bathtub.

Similarly, disabled people would also have an easier time with walk in tubs because mobility wouldn’t be that much of a problem. With enough training and accessories, a disabled person can actually take an unassisted bath by themselves. It may not seem much to most people, but the disabled who rely on crutches or machines for mobility or other bodily functions have lowered self-esteem because of their flaws. Having a walk in bathtub would greatly improve their dispositions, as well as give them a renewed sense of independence and a better outlook on life.

Where Walk In Tub Showers Fit

The perfect accesories with your walk in tub will make bathing a very safe and enjoyable experience

Buying walk in tubs imply that you value safety in the bathroom. As such, you might as well purchase other accessories that would give people using your bathroom the safety they need and deserve. Non-slip matting would be perfect for any bathroom setup and it would certainly fit your walk in tub, providing you with a non-slippery surface you can bathe on without fear of having any accidents. If you want to feel safer, you can also buy shower handle bars that you can install on the walls where your walk in tub is put against. This way, you can have something to hold on to in case you do slip.

Walk in bathtubs would work in any bathroom type, of course, just as camera phones are available for people with different types of social standing. However, if you already have a DSLR camera, why would you still want to buy a phone merely for its camera phone capabilities? Similarly, if you have a huge bathroom area, you can opt not to buy walk in tubs showers and instead buy a separate walk in shower set up and a luxury bathtub at the same time since it would both fit your bathroom. As such, at least for me, I think walk in tub shower combos are better for small bathrooms.
